What does the award recognize?

Every two years, the award will go to a JYSTA member whose work as a mentor, supervisor, or trainer reflects what Paul brought to our community:

  • Generous mentorship
  • Clinical thoughtfulness
  • Intellectual rigor
  • A way of relating to trainees that reflects the spirit of limited reparenting
  • An enduring commitment to the growth of Schema Therapy and its practitioners

Carrying His Legacy Forward

This award is meant to do more than remember Paul. It carries forward what he stood for. Each recipient will be someone whose influence, like his, shows in the Schema Therapists they have helped to grow.

JYSTA hopes Paul's name will stay tied to the values he lived and taught. We also hope future generations of Schema Therapists will see mentorship for what it is: one of the most important ways a field grows.

Paul's influence continues in everyone who now mentors others because he once mentored them. We are honored to preserve that legacy through this award.

Nomination details and the date of the first presentation will be shared with JYSTA members in November and posted on this page.
